What we do

  • Design

    Artwork and typesetting for brochures, menus, stationery, packaging and signage. We work from your brand guidelines or build the piece from scratch, and we prepare files so they print the way they proofed.

    Includes Artwork, typesetting, print-ready files, offset of 1 tonne CO2 per design hour on request

  • Digital print

    Short runs, fast. Printed on our own SRA3 press in the studio, powered by renewable electricity, so a reprint of fifty business cards with a new job title on them is a day's work rather than a fortnight's. Business cards, leaflets, booklets, labels, posters and anything with a name on it that changes.

  • Litho print

    Larger runs of brochures, presentation folders and packaging on partner B1 and B2 presses. Four and five colour, vegetable-based inks, recycled plates and coatings.

  • Carbon offsetting and reporting

    The paper in every order is quantified and offset through Carbon Capture. Ask for the CO2 figure per job and we'll supply it for your own reporting. Design time can be offset through Gold Standard and VCS certified projects.

Sustainability

Each claim below names the mechanism and the partner behind it, so it can be checked. The figures are the Carbon Capture programme's running totals as published on the current site.

Paper
Where possible, the CO2 of the paper in your job is quantified and offset through the Woodland Trust's Carbon Capture programme, from large format posters down to business cards.
Design time
On request, one tonne of CO2 is offset for every hour of design work, through Gold Standard and VCS certified projects that meet the Quality Assurance Standard for offsetting.
Our own emissions
Scope 1 and 2 emissions are measured, reduced and rebalanced year on year with Pause People, to a global best practice method.
Energy
The studio runs on 100% renewable electricity from Octopus Energy. The litho presses we use are partly solar powered and recover press heat to warm the factory.
Packaging
Cardboard and paper boxes, water-activated kraft tape that is fully recyclable and petroleum free. No plastic where we can avoid it.
Delivery
Emission-free electric vehicle delivery in Hampshire on request. Further afield, shipments go through UPS's carbon neutral programme.

The studio

Viro Print is a family-run studio on Abbey Walk in Romsey, Hampshire, trading since 1998 and known as Zip Imagesetters until 2023. Louis manages the studio day to day. [Team: who else to name, and one line each.]

Short-run digital work is printed in the studio. Larger litho jobs go to partner presses we've chosen for how they're powered and what they do with their waste. Either way, one person sees your job through from the first file to the delivery note.

  1. Brief

    Tell us what it is, how many, and when. We'll come back with a quote and, if you want it, the CO2 figure for the paper.

  2. Proof

    You approve a proof before anything goes to press. Colour, stock and finish are agreed here, not discovered on delivery.

  3. Press

    Digital in the studio, litho with our partners. Waste paper, plates and packaging are recycled either way.

  4. Delivered

    By electric vehicle in Hampshire on request, or by UPS carbon neutral shipping. Packed in card and paper tape.
